91) The 6th Patriarch Sutra - 20240420

XW 2024. 4. 24. 07:54

When the Sixth Patriarch taught us about true repentance and reform within your self-nature, meaning that when you decide to do repentance reform, you go back to self-nature and say, that comes from your self-nature. If you do that, then you're naturally doing true repentance and reform. What we can do is just try our best to connect with self-nature in repentance.

You start with your self-nature. When you do the Great Compassion Repentance, you say ‘I'm going to do this from my self nature.’ You go back to your self nature and contemplate it.

Before you start, you contemplate. I'm starting from my self-nature. You don't even need to know what it is. If you do that for one split second, your blessings are limitless. And then you realize that your mind is wandering. You go back and reset. Let's start from our self-nature again. And then you wonder. Start again. That very split moment where you say I'm starting from my self-nature, your blessings are incredible.

What's the difference between starting from our self-nature versus concentrating on our dantian? Your dantian is a gateway to your self-nature. Going back to your dantian is going back to your self-nature. Whether you can feel it or not doesn't matter.
